5 Reasons to Do Union’s Got Talent
We are over the moon excited to be co-hosting the first-ever Union’s Got Talent show!
We started this event to provide a creative performing arts outlet for the youth in our community. That’s right – we want to see your talents…all of them – all levels, all skills, all abilities! You might be thinking, “What is the point of joining a talent show that I probably won’t win – I mean I love my kid, but their talent seems to just be a little (dare I say) average–ish.”
I know - *Gasp!*
But can we just pause for a moment to imagine what it would look like if we didn’t compare our child’s skill level to our own expectations of what we consider “best.” What if we as parents approach each opportunity and used it as a stepping stone to help our children learn, grow, and develop into their very own personal best.
With that in mind, here’s 5 Reasons To Do Union’s Got Talent:
1. Gain Experience – Every opportunity given is an opportunity to grow – but only if you seize the chance. Your child’s preparation for this showcase will help them learn more about who they are as a performer and as a person. Being prepared, follow-through, determination, managing nerves, persistence, patience – the list goes on and on. They are learning much more than a skill, they are developing life habits that will serve them for many years to come.
2. Confidence – Each time your child performs either live or recorded (or even in front of their teddy bears) you are stretching their performance muscle and that muscle develops confidence. With each performance your child learn that regardless of what happens in the moment - good or bad…they survived and can try again!
3. Create a Memory – If your child is interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts, you can add this video to their resume. But regardless of what the future holds, having a video to watch will help measure progress in the present and gives us something to reminisce over in the future.
4. Give to Make a Difference. This might be the best reason yet! Being a part of Union’s Got Talent will show your child how to use their talents to help someone else. A portion of all proceeds from Union’s Got Talent will be donated to The Sandbox & The Lanti Foundation - two local non-profit organizations who are committed to making a difference in our community. Make sure you and your child check them out!
5. WIN PRIZES! Did we mention this yet?! The prize package for Union’s Got Talent is over $1000 and includes cash, trophies, and/or business vouchers! Umm…yes, please!
SO LET’S DO THIS…
As parents, let’s continue to welcome opportunities that challenge, develop, and inspire our children towards their own personal best. So, whether they take music lessons, play in a band, sing at church, sing in the shower, dance, write poetry, sketch, bang on the drum, juggle, perform magic, play the bagpipes, or do comedy…encourage your child to perform and don’t miss the chance to document their personal best today because their tomorrows will thank you.
